Consequences

After getting Enrique some needed medical attention, the group called in Stinky Joe to assist with covering their tracks. Joe used shapeshifting and glamours to make it appear that the group died in a car accident. On his way back to the group, Joe was pressed into carrying a message to Enrique, informing him that his help was needed by his fellow Knight of the Cross, Sanya. He sets the remainder of the group up with a contact in Baltimore.

Benny and Nicholas continue on to the contact in Baltimore, one Erik Magnisen, who Joe says will agree to help them to lay low for a time until its safe for them to re-surface….TIME PASSES

So ends “A Cautionary Tale of Two Cities” and begins “Bad Times in Ba’more”

Starting adventure for Bad Times in Ba'more

Session#1 – Session#1

Baltimore….Charm City, Mobtown, The Land of Pleasant Living, The City of Firsts, Monument City, Ravenstown, Clipper City….B’more.

Benny Martin and Nicholas McCoy move to Baltimore to avoid an intense FBI investigation in Minnesota. They take up with a friend of Stinky Joe – Erik Magnisen. A native of Baltimore and well regarded member of the local supernatural community. Benny and Nicholas are told to meet Erik at Accorded Neutral Ground in Baltimore which is a coffee shop / bookstore known as Neutral Grounds and the proprietor one Diane Bassett.

The group investigates a murder on Diane’s rental property next door. They meet and deal with Wallace “Lizard” Gibbs in the The “East Green”. They discover a supernatural product called “White Lightning” that has negative side-effects and begin to investigate.

The group finds the White Court owned distribution center for the supernatural White Lightning “energy drink”. They fight ghouls and white court vampires and free some human prisoners.

The team traces the White Court connection to the dangerous energy drink White Lightning further back and find the bottling facility where it originates. There appears to be something taking place using magic and the killing of White Court Virgins. They fight Black Court Vampires and find out these are being used by White Court as muscle…..and, of course, more ghouls.

Season#1 – Session#4

The party disrupts a ground breaking ceremony where Alexandra is participating with high level dignitaries. The white court burns down Erik’s garage in retaliation for the destruction of the distribution center and bottling facility. They also threaten Erik’s wife to send a signal that they now know who he and his friends are . Erik sends her go stay at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for her safety and, after some investigation, they determine that the Mantis Club is a White Court front business. They fight the White Court manager, evacuate the “civilians” and burn it to the ground. The party once again fights more ghouls. The the leader of the Venatori Umbrorum abandons their base at the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum and is ultimately forced to flee the city when a White Court attack on his family is narrowly avoided.

Session#1 – Session#5

The party finds out that Russell Carson’s Renegades are trying exert influence over areas current under White Court control – almost like a cold-war version of an old-fashioned gangland turf squabble. The party kills a high ranking member of the White Court family in such a way that it appears to be the work of Carson’s Renegades. The White Court immediately retaliates against Russell’s followers at every turn and the Cold War, quickly turns into a Hot one. It wouldn’t be Baltimore if there weren’t some ghouls to fight at some point so, of course, there were ghouls.

Season#1- Session#6

The back-and-forth battle between the zealots of Russell’s Renegades and the White Court has raged on for a few weeks and was even starting to capture the attention of the mundane news.
BLAH appears in Common Grounds asking for the party members. They are given card for Curator of the MD Historical Society. Told Alexandra would be at the PARK AND MUSEUM
Head to Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myer Maritime PARK and Museum. Benny causes minor earthquake / tsunami to wreck get-away board moored alongside the venue. Group kills several Nixies in front then some HOBS pour into area. Benny now ashore and forces open rear door. Whoever is inside then starts to raise the truck-sized loading bay door, which Benny promptly hexes. They start trying to raise it manually and someone sticks their head out to see what’s going on. Pulls gun on Benny and fight ensues. Those inside start to raise bay doors manually while Benny and henchman at door trade blows. Crew in front makes their way towards back of building where they heard gunfire coming from, but Nicholas breaks off to guard rear and side entrances. Bay door is nearly open and the SHELLYCOBS rip it open the rest of the way so they can reach Benny….just as Eric reaches the room from the far side. Before they can swarm Benny, Eric is on them and surrounded by them. Nicholas sees a group of figures dart past the front entrance and head towards cars parked near the front of the building. While Eric and Benny are handling the SHELLYCOBS, Nicholas positions himself to take a shot at the departing vehicles and successfully shoots through the engine block of the lead vehicle. The secondary vehicle swerves and narrowly avoids the first vehicle and continues to make a hasty retreat. The SHELLYCOB fight continues. Nicholas reloads and repositions himself and gets a long range shot off on the departing vehicle, blowing out a tire and causing them to flip the vehicle. The occupants dart out of the car at inhuman speed and take off on foot. This is about the time the SHELLYCOBS are finished off.
The group quickly makes haste to the SAVAGE MILL AND MANOR. They lay in wait for the unsuspecting White Court and ram them into a tree when the driver gets out and opens the security gate on the driveway leading up to the Manor house. Benny surrounds the trapped vehicle with a magical barrier to prevent them from leaving while Eric douses the vehicle in fuel and sets it on fire killing its trapped passengers. The driver escaped in the chaos.

The past few weeks and months have been fairly quiet and the group has been enjoying a period of relative quiet. Nicholas receives a call from a clued in contact, Sergeant Jim Flanagan, in the Baltimore PD after a series of Jane Doe bodies turn up killed in the same odd manner. He meets Sgt. Flanagan in a touristy section of the waterfront to find a body with a hole in the forehead and part of the brain missing. Nicholas decides this needs closer investigation and asks Jim if it would be possible to get a closer look when the body is taken back to the morgue tonight. Jim says he’ll see what he can do and text Nicholas later. The group meets periodically at Neutral Grounds to touch base and listen in the latest news from the supernatural community and is gathering later that evening.

Shortly after the group meets they are approached by . He reluctantly explains that the While Council has been approaching certain gifted individuals who’ve shown proficiency in dealing with the enemy to recruit them as “Deputy Wardens” in areas where resources are overtaxed. He has been ORDERED by the White Council to extend such an invitation to the Party. After some back-and-forth and rubbing it in Evan’s nose, the group agrees to be deputized. Montrose explains this requires the party to help with investigations sent their way by Evan and the party to reciprocate by keeping him apprised of their progress and also provide info on any supernatural events that he might not have heard about yet. Evan tells the party about bodies of homeless people with missing organs that have been washing up around the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the party tells Evan about the Jane Does found with the hole in their foreheads. Almost immediately after Evan leaves, Russell Carson (or rather a “body double” of some sort) enters Common Grounds and thanks the party for their help with his White Court problem as it has allowed him to rebuild his resources. He insists he is not the bad guy and that his supernatural contacts are warning him that something big is coming and the Party has bigger, badder fish to fry. The party makes no promises, but does agree with Carson that they have higher priories right now but they do not agree with his vision of himself as just “mis-understood” and shouldn’t expect any quarter. Nicholas checks his phone and has a text from Sgt. Flanagan telling him a time to show at the back door of the morgue where a friend-who-owes-him-a-favor will let them have an off the books look at the Jane Doe bodies.

The Team heads to the morgue at the agreed meet time and rings the bell at the rear entrance several times with no answer. After text reassurances from Flanagan that his friend should definitely be there, Nicholas decides to circle around to try the main, front entrance. After seeing no one at the front desk , he heads through the door into the back area. Meanwhile, after waiting a short time at the back door, Benny and Erik quietly pop the lock and head through the rear entrance under cover of a veil. Nicholas peers through a small window into the main examination area and see a body in a white lab coach laying in a pool of blood on the floor with a tall lanky shape hovered over it. He also sees a second figure opening the body drawers and examining the corpses. Fearing for the morgue technician, Nicholas storms through the front entrance and engages the creatures. Upon seeing Nick burst through the front door and engage the surprised creatures, Benny and Erik promptly follow through the rear entrance while still under the protection of the veil. The party wins the battle against the hags, even managing to take one unconscious but alive. They quickly perform an investigation of the bodies and realize the hags are harvesting organs from the freshly dead while not touching the ones with the holes in their foreheads.

They take the unconscious hag back to Benny’s for further questioning where she is water boarded aggressively questioned. After some persuasive discussions, the hag explained they were collecting organs to cast ritual on them so they hold the sustaining essence in them. When further pressed, she explained it was because her coven was preparing to leave Baltimore as quickly as possible as something “real big and bad” was building and they didn’t want to be there when it happens. They haven’t been able to determine what it was, but they know they want to leave as quickly as possible before it gets here. Once they get her to reveal the coven is staying at Fort Carroll near the , the Team begins to form a plan to destroy the coven.

The plan requires a fully loaded fuel truck, phosphorus rounds for Nannupuq, and some road flares. Benny purchases a full fuel truck first thing the next morning and spends the day inscrolls it to be light as a feather (levitated) with assistance from Erik into Runes. After dark that night, Nicholas drives out to the point of the Bridge closest to the island while Benny and Erik follow a short distance behind in the deuce-and-a-half. The Erik stays with the duce to keep traffic out of the lane Nick stops the fuel truck. Once the fuel trailer is disconnected, Nicholas aims and “throws” it at Fort Carroll. Being light as a feather, it slowly drifts over to the island. Once in place, Benny cuts off the magic and the tanker crashes to the island covering the entire heavily over-grown island with fuel. Nicholas fires a phosphorus round into the tanker and the entire island is quickly engulfed in a raging inferno. The group waits a few minutes as Nick observes through his scope to ensure no one escapes off the island.
